Laurent Bakery Ivanhoe marks the sixth Laurent Bakery designed by Melbourne-based Interior Design Studio GOLDEN. Briefed to translate Laurent's newly rejuvenated brand ethos at their Ivanhoe location, the design language centred around the art of patisserie, harmonising Australian cafe culture with heritage Parisian patisseries. The brief was to infuse a youthful edge to their previous designs to attract a wider demographic, whilst still retaining the trusted brand image of Laurent.

GOLDEN drew upon several surrounding factors for design inspiration, including the leafy streets of the Ivanhoe suburb and the architectural icon Heide Museum in the neighbouring suburb. Taking cues from the boho-Modernist Heide II (McGlashan and Everist), earth tones and a sense of mystery became focal points of the ideation phase for GOLDEN.

Communicating this through mosaic floors and timber ceilings, complemented by furnishings from local designers, includingGrazia & co & Design By Them. GOLDEN fused this local homage with classic French patisserie imagery by drawing upon various Viennoiseries (French breakfast pastries) as circular motifs to ground the layout of the space.
