Larritt Evansdesigned a bold, sleek Toorak house for a young family. The client was formerlyfull of antique furniture and was eager to gain a significant radiance and modernity in his magnificent family home. Although the original structure of the house is intact, it contains classic elements and ornate levels of detail that do not represent a dynamic client or family.

The frank collaboration between the designer and the client leads to a complete creative license for the whole design, thus allowing the house to express the family character. And the proportion of the house exceeds that of any ordinary house, especially a huge staircase that dominates the entrance to the foyer, forming aunique curve. This sets the tone inside.

Designer Claire Larritt Evans was inspired to push the envelope with lots of colour. "I knew it had a bold palette," she explained. Claire Larritt Evans, who socialized with clients before working with them, is already familiar with their aesthetic. She knew they were bold in their fashion choices and it was a good stepping stone to make sure the house reflected their personal style.
