Tea House

Intended as a the centerpiece of a traveling exhibition focused on Zen tea culture, asap created a pair of inflatable teahouses: a small one intended for an intimate, formal tea ceremony, and a larger one constructed with a dome of small inflatable mylar balloons creating a larger space for group events. Designed to be inexpensive, lightweight, and easily portable, the teahouses are simple, modest, but inspiring structures, able to be easily transported and quickly installed and removed.

X House

Situated in Beijing’s tallest residential structure, the X-House is a showcase business and residential space for a prominent international entrepreneur. Designed to accommodate business meetings, banquets, guests, and other functions, the space features a 1000-bottle wine cellar, tasting room, and spa bathrooms.

The design is based on a system of Bézier curves, giving each space a unique and distinctive quality, creating a completely unexpected experience high above the streets of Beijing. Collectively, the spaces act as a network of domes, almost like a cave, creating opportunities for views, privacy, exploration and surprise.

G House

This project was conceived to completely redesign an existing home dating from the 1970s. Working with a language deploying ovals at a variety of scales, the project uses a strong palette of geometry and an equally strong palette of color to reframe the experience of how the house is perceived and lived in. Working in concert with the existing design language, the renovation asserts itself through layering, without seeking to completely negate the original.
