Belarusian designer Vlad Kudin has created his first interior design project, his own apartment in Minsk. He and his wife love to host guests and treat them to delicious food, listen to vinyl records and enjoy a glass of wine.
This 110 square meter apartment is located on the top floor of a new building in the outskirts of Minsk. When choosing it, the designer paid great attention to high ceilings and an open floor plan. They wanted to create a simple, austere interior that would convey their own taste and style, immune to time. The use of bright colors, accents, and patterns was not acceptable to him.
With great enthusiasm, the designer created a unified space where a spacious and bright living room, dining area, and kitchen came together to enjoy parties, music, socializing with friends, and cooking.
The materials played a key role in the interior: a natural warm-tone concrete ceiling, calm gray micro cement on the floor, natural-colored gypsum plaster, a light concrete kitchen, an oak table, curtains of rough cotton, and a couch upholstery of natural Belarusian linen along with paper lamps defined the character of this interior!
Although most designers and architects say that designing an interior for oneself is much more difficult than for a client, I enjoyed designing my own apartment tremendously. I did not resort to visualization, only drew up plans and imagined everything in my mind, often coming to an empty apartment and visualizing my ideas. There were concerns that some of my ideas might not work out in reality, but everything turned out exactly as I had envisioned!
