无之设计--上海世博元古酒店

位于上海世博园区的这家酒店主打城市度假。虽说叫做“度假”,但他的底层逻辑确是商务模式。作为经济中心的上海无论是人文环境还是自然条件,度假酒店并不是一个很好的选择。但是随着经济条件的提高,年轻人对居住环境有了更高的要求,尤其在精神层面,那么这家元古酒店就要达到这个目的。


Located in Shanghai World Expo Park, YUAN Hotel focuses on urban vacation. Although it is called vacation, it’s based on business model. As the economic center of China, holiday hotel is not a good choice in terms of human environment and natural conditions. However, with the improvement of economic conditions, young people have higher requirements for the living environment, especially in the spiritual level, as a result, YUAN Hotel has achieved this goal.

元古,是一个倡导中式生活方式的品牌,酒店是元古品牌的精神载体,通过居住,餐食,茶点,以及元古商店的售卖,来立体传达元古的品牌精神。


YUANGU is a brand that advocates Chinese lifestyle. The hotel is the spiritual carrier of YUANGU brand. We try to convey the brand spirit by residence, meals, refreshments and shops in YUANGU store.

根据设计任务,院内的五层主楼规划了一百间客房,三层附楼有二十间客房。其余的功能空间都是需要重新建造,比如接待大厅,茶室,餐厅,厨房,以及功能用房。在设计之初,我们的确低估了这个项目的难度,而随着设计的不断深入,设计团队不断地跨越专业,比如,小型规划设计,建筑设计,建筑改造,室内设计,景观设计,等等,有时候甚至还参与一些公关工作。

According to the design task, there are 100 guest rooms in the main building and the 20 guest rooms in the annex building. The rest of the functional spaces need to be rebuilt, such as the reception hall, tea house, restaurant, kitchen and so on. At the beginning of the design, we did underestimate the difficulty of this project, and with the deepening of the design, our team constantly overcame obstacles from different specialized fields, such as small-scale planning, architectural design, architectural transformation, interior design, landscape design, etc. sometimes we even take part in some public relations work.

经过一段时间的磨合,我们明确了两个设计方向,即,理性设计和感性设计。记得古罗马建筑师维特鲁威提出了建筑了三条原则,即实用,坚固,美观。就目前的现状来看一条都不具备。但所有的设计工作都要从理性入手,这次也不例外。如门窗更换,结构加固,屋面防水,还有硬件设施的落位等等,这些工作都很具体复杂,可是每一项都无法回避。这里我就不一一赘述了,总之是要做到实用且坚固。


After a period of running this project, we identified two clear design directions, rational design and perceptual design. I remembered that the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius proposed three principles of architecture, namely, practicality, sturdiness and aesthetics. According to current situation we mentioned, none of them are available. To some extent, all design work should be started with rationality. Such as the replacement of doors and windows, structural reinforcement, roof waterproofing, and the positioning of basic facilities, etc., There tasks are very specific and complex, but each can not be avoided. I won’t repeat them here. In short, it is necessary to be practical and solid.

感性方面就更为复杂,其实设计的本身没有意义,但是完全停留在技术层面的设计是缺少灵魂的,怎样赋予酒店以灵魂是本次设计面临的挑战。两年前曾经读过童雋先生的《江南园林志》我深受启发,当然这可能只是设计师的直觉。


The perceptual aspect is more complex. In fact, the design itself is meaningless, but the design lacks soul if we just stay completely at the technical level. How to endow the hotel with soul is the challenge of this design. Two years ago, I was deeply inspired by Mr. Tong Jun’s Jiang zhi. Of course, this may only be the designer’s intuition.

也许是阴差阳错这个设计的布局刚好符合传统园林的特点,亭,台,楼,阁,变成了平面中的接待大厅,茶室,客房,餐厅。然——以廊道加以连接,动线曲径通幽,入口先抑后扬,加之以水木山石作为点缀之后,俨然就成了一幅当代江南园林画卷。


Perhaps it is a mistake of time that the layout of this design just conforms to the characteristic of traditional garden. Pavilion, platform, building and loft have become reception halls, tearooms, guest rooms and restaurant in the plan. However, connected by corridors, the winding paths lead to seclusion, the entrance is restrained first and then raised. In addition, it is decorated by water, trees, mountains and stones, which seems to become a picture of contemporary Jiangnan gardens.

“园”偶然成了这次设计的钥匙,整个酒店都是围绕着园来展开的,在技术所能达到的范围内尽量发挥造园的优势。在传统与现代之间,在感性与理性之间不断地游离与碰撞。设计的过程中有成功也有失败,但是最重要的就是让我们重新找回了复兴传统文化的信心。也许这是酒店设计之外更大的收获,也是我们今后设计工作的动力吧!


Garden has become the key of this design by accident. The whole hotel is centered around the garden and gives full play to the advantages of gardening within the scope of technology. Between tradition and modernity, between sensibility and rationality, there is a constant dissociation and collision. There are successes and failures in the process of design, but the most important thing is to let us regain our confidence in reviving traditional culture. Perhaps this is a greater harvest than hotel design, and it is also the driving force of our future design work.
